Numerical Solution of Boundary Layer Flow Over a Vertical Flat Plate For Al2o3-Water Nanofluid
Abstract
In the present work, steady state mixed convection boundary layer flow of incompressible nanofluid along the
vertical flat plate has been investigated. The governing partial differential equations are transformed into a new co-ordinate
system (ξ, η) to facilitate the numerical calculations. The resulting non-linear equations are then approximated by local
similarity method to reduce into a set of ordinary differential equations and then quasilinearization method has been taken
for linearization. The linearized equations are solved iteratively by implicit trapezoidal rule along with principle of
superposition. For numerical study, Al2O3-water nanofluid has been considered with different volume fractions, ranging up
to 8%. The effects of the different volume fractions of nanoparticles and the mixed convection parameters on velocity and
temperature distributions have been shown graphically. The results show that with the increase of volume fractions, local
Nusselt number increases significantly and further, its delay the separation.
