<strong>Abstract</strong><br>
Since the beginning, human beings have been generating waste, but with the progress of civilization the waste
generation is increasing and also becoming complex in nature. Due to population upsurge and rapid urbanization, solid waste
management is now one of the important issues all over the world. Surat is the second largest city of Gujarat in terms of
population, and generates about 1800 to 2100 Metric tons of waste daily. This paper provides an overview of the status of
solid waste management in the city of Surat and presents citizen’s views towards solid waste management practices.
