Power Quality Study of 1500 MVA Motor-Less Short Circuit Alternator

Abstract
Short circuit alternator installed at the Bhopal unit of Central Power Research Institute is operated with state of art static power sources known as static frequency converter and static excitation system. With the help of these two static sources the short circuit alternator runs without any physically connected prime mover. Impact of these static power sources are analysed through a thorough power quality study. Power quality analyser is placed on the supply bus to monitor the impact caused by the short circuit alternator during its various modes of operations.
