Optimizing the Role of Stakeholders in Building Business Governance Institutions Coffee Agro Forestry in West Java Province

Abstract
Abstract - The main problem encountered in the current agroforestry coffee trade system is that there is no significant impact on improving the welfare of forest farmers. These problems lead to the absence of institutions in the governance of the agroforestry coffee trade that functions to regulate commerce fairly, especially producers, namely forest farmers. Government protection in the form of institutional regulations is therefore very much needed so that the agroforestry system which is a sustainable forest management system can have a positive impact on improvingfarmer welfare. This study aims to identify the problems that exist in the governance of the agroforestry coffee trade and analyze the inhibiting factors so that the role of the parties in the governance of the agroforestry coffee trade is not optimal in West Java Province. The results of this study are expected to contribute as an alternative solution in improving the governance of the coffee agroforestry trade, based on the role of the parties in West Java Province. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Research data were collected through desk review, in-depth interviews and field reviews. The interviewees came from parties related to the agroforestry coffee trade system, including agroforestry coffee business actors, academics/colleges engaged in research and development as well as adding value to coffee commodity products, civil society namely NGOs and ORMAS as well as mass media that has an advocacy function in encouraging pro-farmer policies, especially improving the governance of the coffee agroforestry trade. The research locus is the coffee forest in West Java Province. The results of the study show that the main key in optimizing the role of the parties lies in intensive and effective communication, optimal participation of the parties and the strong role of leadership that can facilitate the achievement of common goals in the form of consensus to encourage pro-farmer policies.
