Implementation of Digital Focus Indexes for Open Source-Based Flat Form

Digital focus indexes represents image quality of achine vision system and have been applied to digital microscopy and autofocus. Despite the usefulness of the digital focus indexes, many machine vision libraries have not been supported the indexes. This study investigated the digital focus indexes which can be applied to industrial machine vision, and developed an SDK library compatible with gcc and OpenCV. The SDK library was installed in an embedded camera based on ARM Linux. The SDK library was tested using PCB images which were acquired by focus and light variation. Automatic focusing and lighting can be implemented considering the maximum of the index variation. The SDK library of digital focus indexes cam be applied to industrial machine vision.
