The Relationships between Social Conservatism and Preference for Shariah-Compliant Hotels

Abstract
The number of tourists who seeks for Shariah-compliant hotel is increasing rapidly over these few current years. In order to effectively tap into this emerging lucrative market, hoteliers need to fully understand what are the determinant factors in the decision-making process. This present article intends to shed some lights on the empirical relationships between the aspect of social conservatism and the preference for shariah-compliant hotels in the context of Malaysia. This study involving 450 respondents found that both, core attributes as well as the peripheral attributes of shariah-compliant hotels are positively related to social conservatism.
