The Iranian government's lawsuit on oil platforms has been raised in the International Court of Justice with an estimated four-year delay after the US military struck. Following the US attacks on oil platforms in the Persian Gulf, the Iranian government came tothe International Court of Justice with some delay in this approach to claim its right. On November 2, 1992, filed a lawsuit against the government of the United States in the Court. In sum, the claim by the government of Iran in the present case is about the responsibility of the US government for violating the fundamental principles of the Treaty of Amity, Economic Relations and Consular Rights between Iran and the United States of America issued in 1955 and the compensation for damage to oil installations in the Persian Gulf, attacked and damaged by the US government. In a general look at the Tribunal's case and the judgment issued by it, it can be said that the Supreme Court has had the right to issue verdict. In this research, descriptive analytical method was used. Keywords - International Court of Justice, independence, Iran, USA, oil wells, legitimate defense
