Abstract : Fibromyalgia (FM) is a syndrome characterized by chronic musculoskeletal widespread pain and tenderness. The aim of this was to investigate the effect of clinical pilates exercises on functional status and quality of life in women with fibromiyalgia patients. Eight women (mean age: 43,75±2.31years) with fibromiyalgia syndrome participated in the study. All the patients diagnosed by a rheumatologist according to The American College of Rheumatology criteria. Patients received clinical pilates program. The program was lasting 60 minutes two times a week over a 6- week period. Before and after treatment program, functional level and quality of life assessed by using Stanford Health Assessment Questinaire (HAQ) and Sort Form-36 (SF-36), respectivelly.HAQ and SF-Physical scores improved significantly with clinical pilates program (p ≤0,05), but the difference was not significant for SF-mental and SF-total scores (p>0.05). The results of the this preliminary study suggest that clinical pilates training may increase physical functionality in women with fibromyalgia. Future studies should use an RCT design with a larger sample size. Keywords - Fibromialgia, Pilates, Physical Functionality, Quality of Life
