Abstract : Our analysis of the disruptive innovation related to smart buildings studies on the factors that lead to a redefinition of the competitive landscape and phenomena of disintermediation for power utilities. These factors are opening strategic windows for the introduction of new business models. This research employs Porter (1979) five forces on the competitive analysis to extensively assess micro environment position of internet of things in electrification with a specific focus on Smart building Keywords- Smart Building, Internet of Things, Disruptive Innovation; Five Forces.
