Abstract : This analysis is based on a qualitative and quantitative study of the political participation of the indigenous Salasakan women of Ecuador. The critical theories of the south framed the research, which emphasizes that their limited political participation is the result of exogenous and endogenous colonization that has established gender roles. The situation of poverty, poor education and a lack of satisfied primary necessities, continue to keep this population from claiming their rights through political participation. Key words- Southern Theories, Political Participation, Colonization.
