Abstract : Research studies and survey reports indicate that STEM education is needed by individuals having visual impairment in order to become successful in life. The STEM based educational services have the potential to equip such persons with essential skills and aptitude to gain better livelihood opportunities and to develop stable careers. The present study was done with the objective to explore the nature and need of STEM education for promoting academic and vocational success among individuals with Visual Impairment. The present research makes use of an exploratory design. An extensive review of literature was conducted related to the topic using both online and offline library resources and open access research databases/repositories. The study findings reveal that there is an immense need for STEM education among Persons with Visual Impairment. Currently educators and trainers are utilizing curriculum adaptations to impart STEM education. However there is lack of awareness of latest techniques and technologies to effectively impart STEM among those with visual impairment. Hence, there is need for exposure to STEM education through accessible and universal methods and strategies for individuals with blindness and other forms of visual impairment for better skill development and ensuring success in life.
