Abstract : Abstract - The current study utilises the Delphi method (Beiderbeck et al., 2021; Markmann et al., 2020) to develop futuristic scenarios of the Lithuanian general education school. 61 experts in education completed an online survey developed by partners of the project Futuristic Scenarios of the Lithuanian General Education School (funded by the Research Council of Lithuania, No. S-MIP-20-58). The results of the two factor analyses of the survey items yielded 6 most probable and 6 most desirable school scenarios. The six factors capturing the most probable scenarios were: 1) blurring of boundaries of space, time and relationships; 2) well-being of students in the post-humanistic space; 3) spread of new ways and traditions; 4) IT constraints and school divergence; 5) faded distinction between formal and non-formal education, and 6) school as an adaptive constant. The six factors representing the most desirable scenarios were 1) (undesirable) expansion of space, lesson time and modes of learning; 2) rooting of alternatives in the space of postmodern pragmatism; 3) negative view of controls and the spread of multiculturalism; 4) initiative in response to needs; 5) resistance to IT dominance, and 6) advancement and liberation. These findings capture the (un)realistic and (un)preferable tendencies in our rapidly changing world and the potential of the future school to further personal flourishing of students in newly envisioned ways.
