Abstract : In 2022, India witnessed a surge in the annual inflation rate, which climbed to 6.01% from a revised 4.06% in the previous year. Given that the interest rates offered by banks on savings accounts are limited to an average of 3.5% to 4%, many Indians are turning towards mutual funds and equity for investing purposes. As the public becomes more aware of investment opportunities, encouraged by Securities and Exchange Board of India and the Indian government, interest in the equity market is increasing. Despite traditional investors still preferring fixed deposits and PPFs, they are gradually becoming open to the prospect of stock market investments. To minimize the risk involved with stock market investments, a range of models and theories have been devised. The two primary approaches to examining market risk and volatility are fundamental analysis and technical analysis. The objective of this research is to scrutinize the stock performance of 20 companies from five distinct sectors (namely, IT, Banking, Automobile, Health, and Infrastructure), employing secondary data obtained from sources such as Money Control and other websites. Through an evaluation of fundamental and technical analysis, this study aims to establish the significance of these approaches in investment decisions and rank sectors based on their performance and investor preference. Keywords - Equity, Mutual Funds, Stock Performance, Investor Preference, Stock Market
