Abstract : The EU strategy “Europe 2020” calls for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. The common agricultural policy in the EU programming period 2014-2020 is to contribute to achieving such growth in agriculture and rural areas. This paper is aimed at discussing whether the current set of instruments of the CAP is adequate for effective and efficient achievement of the EU development strategy.
