Paper Title
User-Aided Internet Filtration: Awareness Of What Information To Access And Share Online
Abstract
Wikipedia defines censorship as “suppression of speech or other public communication which may be
considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive or inconvenient to the general body of people as determined by a government,
media outlet or other controlling body”.
All societies have forms of censorship, effective only with sufficient threat and severity of punishment for violating the
censorship rule. It has been explained as a moral or legislative process by which society agrees to limit what an individual
can do, say, think or see.
In this paper we present our findings on Internet filtration and people’s awareness of what information to access and share
online as per the internet control mechanisms imposed by the governments.
Keywords— Internet Censorship, Self Censorship, IT Act 2000 Awareness.
