The Effect of National Competency Standards-Based Vocational Transition Education on Career Coping Behaviors

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of job transition education on job barriers and career coping behaviors in university lifelong education with 300 graduates who are enrolled in the university lifelong education center in Seoul. The results of this study were as follows. For hypothesis 1, job transition education for middle aged retirees had a positive effect on overcoming job barriers in university lifelong education. For hypothesis 2, job barriers had a positive effect on controlled career coping behaviors, and a negative effect on evasive career coping behaviors. For hypothesis 3, the effect of job transition education on career coping ability has a positive effect on the control coping. In the evasive coping, only positive effect on career management and problem solving ability, self management ability and communication ability were negatively influenced. For hypothesis 4, job barriers had a positive mediating effect on controlled career coping behaviors in job transition education, and a negative mediating effect one vasive career coping behaviors in job transition education. Consequently, NCS-based job transition education can have a positive effect on overcoming job barriers and preparing for career coping behaviors in university lifelong education centers.
