Consumption Inequality Across the Social Groups and Major Religions in India

Abstract
This paper describes the detailed analysis of inequality in consumption in India. I have used inequality decomposition analysis across different social groups and major religions. Proportion of food expenditure in the total expenditure across social groups and religion has also been studied. The characteristics of a household that determine its expenditure pattern have been studied using regression analysis. Key Words - Consumption inequality, Decomposition, Religion, Social groups
