The Role of PMS in Implementing and Adopting CI Initiatives (TQM)

Abstract
Abstract - Performance measurement systems are a crucial part of business development that assures constant performance measurement is conducted with the aim to detect improvement areas and assess whether the company is on track to achieve its pre-defined goals. Continuous improvement initiatives, such as Total Quality Management, aims to improve internal processes with the aim of achieving stakeholders’ satisfaction. There’s been a long debate on whether the two approaches are compatible or not. This study aims to study the role of PMS, in particularly Balanced scorecard, in adopting TQM. A brief literature review will be presented to cover both concepts and previous studies findings. Later, a case study of Emirates Airline will be presented to analyze the relationship between BSC and TQM. The results showed a positive impact of BSC in achieving TQM objectives. Finally, the conclusion will discuss major takeaways and further recommendations.
