Equity in Access in Senior Secondary Education in Sikkim

Abstract
Abstract - Access to education is the basic parameter of ensuring equity in education. Educational studies have been a focal point of policy documents for the past few years, the policies have focused considerably on the idea of access, equity and quality education. Different barriers to access in education are still prevalent in prevalent in our society ranging from the perspectives like- gender, socio economic status, marginalization, ethnicity. Gender inequity has also been a major problem in our country particularly in the underdeveloped areas and have also created a significant influence over the problem of access to education. Sikkim, being one of the north-eastern states also has its own problems with regard to the equity in access in school education. The study thus tries to explore the issues of Inequities in Education in Sikkim. Keywords - Equity, Access, marginalization
