Integration and Perception of the Common European Framework for Languages by Armenian Foreign Language Professors

Abstract
Ter-Ghazaryan Aida The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) has had a huge impact in Europe and beyond. The purpose of this article is to find out the level of knowledge of CEFR by foreign language teachers working in higher education institutions of Armenia and the impact of the framework on the organization of teaching. The results of this study showed that the CEFR is known and used in the Armenian context, but not completely. Despite the fact that all the participants claimed to be familiar with the system, they described it as a scale for assessing the level of knowledge. Consequently, in Armenia, this tool is used only as a means of assessing and determining the level of knowledge, without having any impact on teaching methodology, lesson planning or curriculum development.
