A Case Study on Major Trends in Home Decor Including Post-Pandemic Borne Minor Trends for the Years 2017 – 2021

Abstract
Home decors are a range of products used to decorate our homes using a style quotient. Last decade, globally, the field of home decor has seen rapid innovations, novel concept explorations, cost-effective manufacturing techniques, awareness of design aesthetics, & conscious purchasing behaviors by consumers. Adding to this Omni- channel marketing increased the better reach of solutions to consumers adding to further explorations of new concepts in the market. The post-pandemic has significantly influenced the global home decor market in both positive and negative ways, leading to introducing new major and minor trends and in some cases, retention of past trends with a stronger bond. To get a better understanding of the trends in the home decor field in India, both primary research & secondary research were conducted. Questionnaire surveys, Interviews & Literature research were conducted among consumers, designers & influencers to understand some of the most important trend behaviors for the past years of 2017, 2018, & 2019. The Delphi study method was used to forecast the trends in the years 2020 & 2021. The predicted trends for the years 2020 & 2021 were mapped to the actual trends that happened in the years 2020 & 2021. The results of past trends (2017 to 2019), forecasted trends (2020 & 2021) & actual trends (2020 & 2021) are tabulated in the form of Trend pyramids & Trend Atlas. A mapping chart method was used to see if there were any deviations in the actual trends compared to the predicted trends & results presented. Finally, covid implications were analyzed & some of the possible factors that might have caused deviations are outlined for further study.
