Paper Title
Soil Erosion and Sediment Yield Modeling Using Remote Sensing and GIS Techniques
Abstract
Soil erosion and sediment yield is a crucial problem in agriculture lands, watersheds and reservoirs. As soil
conditions and internal connectivity play extremely important role in controlling water movement of a watershed, the study
of the relationships among soil mechanics and watershed hydrology leads to a better understanding for proper decisions
making. Hence, remote sensing and GIS techniques are applied due to the hold of great premises for the assessment and
conservation of natural resources of surface soil. In the present study, the Madikonda watershed, Warangal district,
Telangana State, India has been selected as the study area and satellite data from IRS LISS IV is used to estimate annual
average soil erosion and the sediment yield.
Keywords- Soil erosion, sediment yield, Remote sensing and GIS.
