Parents Participation: Experiences of Parents in The Care of Their Hospitalized Child

Abstract
BACKGROUND: This review gives eminent opportunity to all those parents who really wants to participate in decision making of best possible available treatment, immediate care during illness and rehabilitative care of their loved of fsprings as well, when they fell sick and hospitalized ever, for early recovery and good prognosis of the same. OBJECTIVE: To explore the experiences of parents regarding participation in taking care of their hospitalized child. METHOD: Keyword searched in PubMed, EBSCO, Research Gate. Whereas, keywords used for this online search of database are ‘parents experiences’, ‘parents participation’, ‘hospitalized child’. Total of 6 articles were selected according to eligibility criteria and 6 were rejected as they were not meeting the eligibility criteria and some were duplicates. All studies were ethically approved. RESULT: This review identified and included five qualitative and one quantitative study under the heading of parents participation and their experiences in the care of their hospitalized child. Out of all studies used in this review, three focused parents experiences regarding their participation in the care of their hospitalized child, two studies exhibited parents as well health care professional’s, both perceptions and ways regarding involvement of parents in taking care of their hospitalized child whereas one quantitative study which is also included here, in this review shows socio-demographic co-rrelates of parents and child as well in the care of their hospitalized child in the perspective of developing countries. CONCLUSION: This review explores experiences, perceptions, views and ways regarding parents participation in the care of their hospitalized child and shows its co-relation with socio-demographic variables of parents and child’s too in the perspective of developing countries.
