Abstract : Happiness research has strived to determine the factors accounting for the variance in individual subjective
happiness assessments. Previous literature has found evidence that there may be a significant relationship between happiness
and the following three factors: self-esteem, self-efficacy, and physical activity. The present study attempts to retest these
findings. Three hundred and twenty-four undergraduate university students completed a survey measuring their happiness,
self-esteem, self-efficacy and leisure-time physical activity. Using a multiple linear regression, it was found that the three
factors significantly accounted for majority of the variance in subjective happiness. Self-esteem was found to account for the
largest amount of variance. These findings are consistent with the previous literature.
