Abstract : Liberalization, Privatization and Globalization of Indian economy has opened the doors for multinational players
in the financial sector along with that the door has also been opened for the investment sector especially through banking
and insurance services. The devoir for merchant banking was traced in 1972 by The Banking Commission. The Commission
stated and declared ,merchant banks should serve fund and non-fund based services such as syndication of financing, project
promotion, investment management, act as an advisor to small and medium scale investors and different types of funding
etc. In India, at present opulent number of merchant players are operated under the guidance and supervision of SEBI
(Security Exchange Board of India). The attempt is made to evaluate the financial performance of Axis Capital Ltd. In the
study different heads of income and expenditure are considered for the evaluation of the financial position and performance
of the selected bank. The emphasis is given to appraise the comprehension of the bank registered under Category-I with
