Abstract : At present, the need to develop an up-to-date higher school management model based on long-term plans and strategies is widely recognized. Higher education institutions are embedded in a market economy, civil society and democratic political systems. Their goal is to support the development of local, regional and national communities. To achieve this goal, they use all kinds of opportunities created, among others, by the increasing autonomy of universities, their independence, development of the quality of education or freedom in constructing curricula.The purpose of this paper is therefore to present a strategy for constructing models of higher school management in Poland. The paper assumes that the development of long-term university management plans and strategies is a factor that supports community development. The paper uses the method of examining documents using various data collection and analysis techniques and tools, including the records of the investigated universities and online sources.
