Abstract : LiFePO4 (LFP) has been considered as the promising cathode material for lithium-ion batteries used in electric
vehicles, regarding to its low cost, great electrochemical stability, harmless, and non-toxic. However, the practical use of
LiFePO4 cathode is limited by its drawbacks, as the poor ionic and electronic conductivity, resulting in the limited capacity.
One of the potential approaches to improve the capacity loss is to dope the electrode material with high capacitive
heteroatom-containing compounds as Nitrogen (N), and Sulfer (S). Therefore, this work we aimed to enhance the
electrochemical performance of the LiFePO4 by doping with the Ammonium persulphate (APS) via an impregnation method.
Then, the impact of APS doping on the electrode material morphology and electrochemical performance of the targeted
product, APS/LFP, were analyzed. The physical properties and the electrochemical performance of the APS/LFP cathode
material products were characterized by employing various characterization techniques, such as scanning electron
microscope (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray diffraction(XRD), Cyclic voltammetry, and
Galvanostatic charge and discharge. The suitable conditions for N and Sulfur-riched additives loading were optimized.
Eventually, the comparison of electrochemical performance for different loading amount of the APS was investigated. The
results showed that the 3% APS doping was the best preparing condition that could achieve the high reversible specific
capacity of 142.4 mAh.g-1 after 50 cycles at the current density of 0.5 C. Moreover, it provided the Coulombic efficiency of
nearly 100%
