Abstract : The focus of this article is on the contribution of New Media to project management. Tools like blogs, podcasts, wikis and social networking platforms such as Facebook represent suitable means. They show positive effects on, for instance, the degree of information or the level of participation of the projects members. Furthermore, the motivation of the members can be increased, like the identification with the project or the willingness to support and execute the project. However, also negative effects could arise like the influence on project costs and duration, especially when new tools and their usage are completely new and not known among the project employees.
