Abstract : Under a deal reached between China and Djibouti, the logistics facility at the Djibouti Port will help Chinese troops carry out international peacekeeping operations and perform humanitarian rescues - escorting of ships in the Gulf of Aden and waters off the Somali coast. These centers (Djibouti & Gwadar Ports), which the American defense officials termed as a military base, is aimed at providing better facilities to the personnel on Chinese vessels such as better rest and replenishments. Furthermore, Gwadar port(Pakistan) is a deep-sea port next to the Strait of Hormuz, the key oil route in and out of the Persian Gulf, built with Chinese funding and operated by mainland firms. Although the port is not home to any PLA installation, navy ships are expected to dock at the facility in the near future. Gwadar also connects the $46 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) through PoK with China's Xinjiang. Reports from Pakistan said the country itself is setting up Special Security Division comprising 15,000 troops, including 9,000 Pakistan Army soldiers and 6,000 para-military forces personnel to protect CPEC and Chinese personnel. China this year plans to increase its defense spending by about seven per cent to $152 billion. Much of it was expected to go to the navy as China plans to spread its influence far from its shores. Chinese officials have insisted it is not a "base" citing their long-standing policy of not operating overseas military bases, but the facility will effectively function as one, catering to PLA navy vessels that are involved in anti-piracy operations in the Gulf of Aden and Indian Ocean. Keywords - Gwadar Port, Djibouti, Persian Gulf, Anti-piracy Operations, peacekeeping operations, humanitarian rescues, Gulf of Aden, Somali coast. CPEC
